Manufacturing - Ensenada, Mexico
On June 4, 2007 the Arial Team traveled to Ensenada, Mexico to set up the first Arial Home Initiative micro-manufacturing plant. It was successful, but not without a lot of hard work from the whole team, which included Pepe Zavala and his crew of 4 local Mexican workers. Click here for the story.
Update from Danielle Pirelli: Now here’s a quick look at how the panels which we’ll be using to give these families houses are manufactured. We have adopted a bread baking metaphor to better understand the process.
As steel is being prepared to be filled, it is called a "pan." The pan is loaded into the oven which is then tightened shut
A robotic arm with a nozzle runs down the length of the panel spraying the liquid polyurethane or "dough" into the pan.
After any excess dough is cut off from the top, the panel or bread is removed and stored. In the photo is the group who built the Ensenada Panel Manufacturing Plant along with our first panel. Danielle Pirelli
